Caramel Zebra Cowhide Rug
Tanned in Brazil
Story
Instead of the usual black-and-white pairing, the Caramel Zebra Cowhide Rug runs its stripes through a warmer register — black striping set against beige, brown, and caramel tones that give the print a softer, sun-warmed feel without losing its graphic edge. The stripe layout itself doesn't change from rug to rug, but the caramel and beige tones underneath can run a shade warmer or cooler depending on the hide, which is simply part of working with a natural material rather than a dyed synthetic.
It's tanned and finished as a full, natural hide rather than a printed textile substitute, which means the surface carries real depth and a bit of sheen once it catches the light. The natural suede backing holds it in place without a rug pad, and because it's leather rather than fiber, dust, pollen, and pet dander don't cling to it the way they do to a woven rug.
Artisans in Southern Brazil hand-trim every piece to shape, working to Leather Working Group Gold Standard and Oeko-Tex® Certified Leather Standard requirements, and with basic care — the occasional shake, a damp cloth for spills — it's the kind of piece that develops a richer patina over decades. X-Large, 7' x 6'.
