Do your cowhides shed?

Initially, there may be hair loss from the cowhide due to the handling and trim process to which it was subjected. This drop is natural and will be less intense with the course of daily use. Shedding should not occur if the cowhide is cared for properly. However, shedding may happen over time in areas with high foot traffic, excessive rubbing, exposure to direct sunlight, or where heavy objects are placed. Proper care helps maintain the durability and appearance of your cowhide.

What to expect from a cowhide?

Cowhides are a natural product, they might contain some natural flaws due to conditions inherent to natural animal products such as branding and barbwire markings, that will be discreetly repaired.

Where can I store my hide?

You can store the hide in a box without plastic out of the sun. If you are moving, place the hide in a plastic bag in case to protect it from water and humid weather. 

How thick are your cowhides?

Our cowhides are very pliable. Generally ranging between 2 mm and 4 mm thick, which is about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch.

What is the hair length on cowhides?

Our cowhides typically have hair lengths that do not exceed 3 inches in the neck area. We offer a variety of styles, including short-hair cowhides like Speckleds, Grays, and Brindles, as well as mid-to-long-hair cowhides, which include certain Brindles, Black and Whites, Herefords, Browns, Blacks, and Tricolors.

How long will it take to ship my item?

Our processing time is 1-2 business days before shipping an order. For custom orders, it might take 8-12 weeks since production takes place in Brazil. 

What is the status of my order?

You will receive emails that update you with the status of your order (e.g., when the items ship, tracking numbers, etc.), or you can always click the order number in your order confirmation email to see your order's current status. If you placed an order under an account, you can also log in to view your order status in your account settings. Email us anytime at orders@ecowhides.com.

What if my order is in backorder?

A regular cowhide rug, made in Brazil, typically ships within 1 to 2 weeks. However, if the order is on backorder, it may take approximately 4 to 6 weeks to ship, as the rug needs to be sourced and prepared in Brazil before being sent to you. Each hide is carefully selected and finished to ensure the highest quality.

Do you offer international shipping?

Can I make any changes to my order?

Yes, we can modify your order as long as it hasn’t shipped yet by contacting our Customer Experience Team at orders@ecowhides.com. If your order has shipped, we are unable to modify it!

Can I cancel my order?

Orders may be canceled so long as the order is not in the shipment phase by contacting our Customer Experience Team at orders@ecowhides.com. If your order has shipped, we are unable to cancel it!

Can I pick up my order in person?

Unfortunately, we don't offer local pick-ups at our warehouse. However, your order will be shipped as usual with a fast turnaround time to ensure you receive it promptly!

What happens if my order is on backorder?

Backorder dates occur when production lead times are pushed back due to external factors outside our control. We understand this can be frustrating, rest assured we will do everything to expedite your order as soon as we possibly can.

Do you offer custom-size rugs?

Yes! We offer custom Patchworks for all area rugs with various patterns, excluding round rugs. For a custom quote email us at orders@ecowhides.com.

How long do patchwork area rugs take to make?

A cowhide patchwork area rug, made in Brazil, typically takes around 4 to 6 weeks to produce. This process includes carefully selecting high-quality hides, cutting them into precise shapes, and expertly assembling the pieces to create a seamless design. The craftsmanship involved ensures durability and a luxurious finish, making each rug a unique statement piece.

Can I request rug swatches?

Unfortunately, we do not offer rug swatches at this time. However, our detailed photos of available rugs are designed to help you find the perfect match for your space!

How long does it take to craft my custom piece?

Custom production typically takes between 8 to 12 weeks in Brazil.

Can I return my custom patchwork cowhide rug?

No, all customs items are non-refundable or exchangeable.

Can I cancel my custom-sized rug?

Custom rugs and made-to-order pieces are final sale and cannot be returned or refunded. Cancellations are permitted within 24 hours from the time of order receipt. If you wish to cancel your order, please reach out to our team as soon as possible.

What is the condition of the item I will purchase?

All of our cowhides are brand new, grade-A quality.

SHOP PAY

What is Shop Pay?

Shop Pay is a service that allows you to make purchases now and pay for them in four payments made every 2 weeks without any interest.

How does it work?

Shop Pay offers you the option to pay in full at checkout, or to split your purchase into regular payments with Shop Pay Installments, both online and in-store. Installment options vary by store and can be used on orders over $50 USD, including discounts, shipping, and taxes.

RETURNS & EXCHANGES

What is your return policy?

You have 30 days from the date of receiving your package to initiate a return or exchange. The policy timeframe starts on the same day the package(s) are marked as delivered.

Refunds/exchanges are processed based on the following timeline:

• 1-7 days: Full refund, excluding shipping charges.

• 8-30 days: 25% restocking fee + original shipping charges.

• Orders with free shipping will be subject to the original shipping fee paid by eCowhides; shipping charges are non-refundable.

• Please allow 7-10 business days for our team to process your refund or exchange.

How do I return or exchange my order?

To initiate a return or exchange, simply visit Ecowhides Returns and follow the steps provided. Once you’ve completed the process, mail your package back to us. We’ll notify you as soon as we’ve inspected your return and either processed your refund or shipped your exchange.
When your return arrives at our distribution center, it will undergo a quality check to ensure it meets the conditions outlined in our Returns and Exchanges Policy. If approved, we’ll process your refund back to your original payment method or send your requested exchange.
Please allow at least 7–10 business days from the date we receive your return for processing. For exchanges, additional shipping time will apply. Processing times may vary.
You can use a prepaid shipping label provided through the Ecowhides Returns process or choose your own shipping method. Please note, that we are not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit.
